Important - Please do not contact the Cincinnati United Soccer League (CUSL) directly. If you have any questions or issues about CUSL, please contact NKSA’s CUSL representative Lorri Kim. Lorri can either answer your question or work with CUSL representatives to answer your questions. The league requires all communications to come through club representatives.

CUSL Schedules - Schedules are now posted on the CUSL website www.cuslsoccer.orgIf you are having trouble locating your schedule please contact our CUSL Representative or Director of Players. Before you distribute the schedule to your players, please read through the following notes

Your Schedule - The number of games you have scheduled is entirely dependent on 2 things:

1. How many teams were in your bracket

2. What division you are in

Some teams get 5 games; some teams get 6 games; some teams get 7 games; some teams get 8 games. This is determined by CUSL and not NKSA.

Referee FeesYou must pay the refs, in cash (preferably small bills), at every league game.  Both teams pay the refs at every game, home and away. If the refs show up – they get paid, even if the game is rained out. If that happens, we will give you additional $ to pay the refs at the rescheduled game.  We will have your ref fees ready for distribution by, Monday April 2. NKSA Treasurer Alan Hartman will be issuing one check for your team’s entire season ref fees based upon the number of games scheduled. If you play a game before you receive your check, please pay this yourself and you will be reimbursed for those games when you receive your ref check. We recommend that you cash the check and divide out the fees in small bills to be used at each

game. There will be a letter explaining how to do this issued with the checks. If for any reason

you do not understand or have any questions please let us know.

Games after June 10 - CUSL sometimes schedules games after the end of the season based upon field availability and other factors programed into the scheduling software. Any match scheduled to be played after June 10 has to be re-scheduled and played no later than June 3.

All games must be played by June 10 - I strongly encourage you to try and get all of your games played by 5/31, as most clubs (ours included) will begin having supplemental tryouts for spring 2012 shortly thereafter.

Matches without a field code. Some matches are scheduled on field ' * ' According to CUSL, this occurs on days when there is not enough time to play all matches because too many teams have been assigned to a field. If you are scheduled for one of these matches, it is to be played the day it is scheduled, unless teams agree to pre-play. The home team is responsible to secure a field and referees. If you are in this situation, please begin immediately to get the match correctly scheduled. If it is a home game for NKSA, see the notes below on rescheduling games and treat these games as if they need to be rescheduled with the caveat that you might not need to change the date if we can find an available field.

Confirming Games - I recommend that you begin contacting the other coaches in your bracket right away to either confirm game dates/times/locations or begin the process of rescheduling the games. Stay on top of this – it’s so much easier to figure this all out up front rather than waiting to the last moment.

Rescheduling Games - Any time you need to reschedule a game, the rescheduling process must be done via e-mail so that there is a paper trail. Do not call and reschedule games; if you do have to call (because you are not getting a response on e-mail) get the other coaches email address while on the phone with them and confirm the conversation with them via e-mail immediately afterwards.

CUSL rules regarding rescheduling are very strict. In general, if you need to reschedule a game due to any reason other than rainout, it must be played BEFORE the originally scheduled date.  For example, if you have a game scheduled for Sunday, May 12th and you need to reschedule you need to play the game BEFORE MAY 12th. This is called Pre-Playing the game and it is

what the league expects you to do.  The league will grant a few exceptions to the Pre-Play rule. For this season, CUSL has posted

the following:

RE-SCHEDULING APRIL MATCHES - Any April match that has to be re-scheduled due to a spring break or tournament conflict may be post-played any time during the season.  We expect each team to be diligent in trying to re-schedule the match so it is played

within a reasonable time, and not put it off to the last week of the season. If any coach believes his/her opponent is not being reasonable in re-scheduling, the 'CUSL Spirit' provides for the Club Representatives to work to resolve the conflict. Only if it cannot be worked out at the club level, should the Boys or Girls Director, as is appropriate, become involved; the Director has the authority to re-schedule the match.  The expectations are that you will not wait until the last week of the season to play these games. In fact, my strong suggestion to you is to try and reschedule those games before the end of April. If we have a wet spring, rescheduling becomes more difficult.Rainouts. If your game has been rained out you have 1 week from the rainout date to decide a date to play the game and the game itself must be played within 3 weeks of the originally scheduled date (no later than Sun 6/3). For example, if your May 6th game is rained out, you need to have the date of the make-up determined and entered into CUSL by May 13th (1 week later) and the game itself must be played by May 27th (3 weeks later). You will need to post the rescheduled date on the CUSL site within the one week deadline.Deadline to Reschedule. If you have to reschedule a CUSL game, it must be done at least 5

days in advance. For late cancellations, coaches will be required to pay the ref fees for both teams. This will not be reimbursed by

NKSA.Rescheduling Home Games - When you reschedule a home game (one that will be played on our home fields) you need to adhere to the following procedures:

1. Notify the opposing coach and our ref assignor, Chris Cagle (nksarefscheduler@gmail.com) as soon as you realize that you have to reschedule a game. Please give Chris the game #, date, time, field and team (i.e. Game #9353, 9/18/12, 12:00 pm, St. Joe #2, U12B Smith).

2. Work with the opposing coach to come up with two dates/times that would work for the rescheduled game – a preferred date/time and a secondary date/time (for home games please reference the field calendars to confim availability).

3. Let Chris know what dates you would like and we will work to find you field space and referees.

4. Once we confirm with you the date, field and refs, you need to let the other coach know and enter the reschedule information in the CUSL system (follow the instructions under “Record a Game Score”)

5. If you have a rescheduled game that conflicts with your normal club training night, you must notify your trainer and Jeff Cummings that you will not be at that training session.Home Field Calendars. Check the website, NKSoccer.com, for field calendars for home

games to determine if a field may be available. We will update these calendars as quickly as we can as we receive notice of cancellations or confirmed reschedules.CUSL Rules.
